ERP/Finance System Administrator
Guildford Council is now seeking an ERP system administrator with a focus on the finance elements of UNIT4 ERP (previously known as Business World and Agresso). Please note the job is advertised as a "ERP/Finance System Administrator" however the official job title is "Resources Officer - IT Applications (UNIT4 ERP)".
Your ownership of designing, developing, managing change, and providing expert guidance to finance business users will be critical to building on the existing implementation of UNIT4 ERP at the Council.
Reporting to the ICT Data & Applications team leader you will join the wider ICT Service and work as part of a dynamic team with the autonomy to succeed in a friendly environment.
The role of “Resources Officer – IT Applications (UNIT4 ERP)” (Band 5 grade) is a junior role within the ICT Service in which you will have the objective to grow and develop your personal and technical skills to prepare you to apply for a more senior “ICT Specialist” (Band 6/7 grade) role and own the system administration of UNIT4 ERP.
This personal development will be supported through training to grow you to meet the standard required as a candidate for the “ICT Specialist” role. We want you to succeed in your growth and will work with you to make that happen - your ambition, drive, and consistency will be key to you achieving this goal.
Developing your understanding of UNIT4 ERP configuration, ETL processes, SQL, system integration, and automation will be essential in developing you and our ERP platform as a modern replacement for legacy systems and processes.

Job Profile
Key activities of the role
- UNIT4 ERP Finance application support, including triage of operational system issues, solution design, testing, and implementation.
- ICT change management control including application support for system upgrades.
- Interface development and maintenance to link UNIT4 ERP with other systems.
- Data integrity control and pro-active data management.
- Data reporting creation and maintenance to support Finance Specialist Team (Finance Subject Matter Experts) and Case Services Team (First line support for user requests and incidents).
- 3rd line customer support using a Service Desk ticketing system.
- Management of security including role-based system access controls.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency in data standards across the ERP platform, including adherence to the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
- Finance Configuration management and documentation.
- Contribution to future projects which impact the ERP solution.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships between ICT, Finance, HR, Payroll, and other service areas.
- Provide the appropriate identified training, documentation, and technical support for staff to enable the effective use of the ERP system.
Experience & Knowledge
- Resources Officer – IT Applications (Band 5 grade):
- Essential: Knowledge of data model concepts and design
- Essential: Knowledge of relational databases
- Essential: Strong problem-solving skills
- Essential: Experience of finance process management or accounting experience.
- Essential: Experience of ICT System support
- Desirable: Experience of ICT System administration and configuration management.
- ICT Specialist (Band 6 grade):
- Essential: Experience of ICT System administration and configuration management.
- Essential: System administration of Finance elements of SaaS hosted UNIT4 ERP Milestone 6 (aka Business World, Agresso) or above.
- Essential: Automation of data import processes to comply with UNIT4 ERP import processing methods (for example: GL07 import automation, SFTP file transfer, IntellAgent).
- Desirable: Development of UNIT4 ERP Planner and Excelerator.
- Desirable: System administration of HR, Payroll, Timesheets, and Expenses elements of UNIT4 ERP.
- Desirable: Integration of UNIT4 ERP with back-office systems and data via API configuration.
- Desirable: Accounting experience.
- ICT Specialist (Band 7 grade):
- Essential: Development of UNIT4 ERP Planner and Excelerator.
- Essential: System administration of HR, Payroll, Timesheets, and Expenses elements of UNIT4 ERP.

- Desirable: Accounting experience.
Qualifications
