The starting salary for this role is £18,111 per annum for working 25 hours per week, pro-rata to £26,080 (full-time equivalent).

Whilst you won't be required in the office 5 days a week, we do ask that you can commit to at least two days.

About Us

The Race Equality and Minority Achievement Service (REMA) provides a range of advice and support to schools, colleges and Early Years settings working with pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds who are at risk of underachievement, including those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Gypsy Roma Traveller pupils (GRT).

The role of REMA is to assist in raising achievement and improving outcomes for ethnic and language minority children and young people and to promote inclusive practices and equality.

The REMA Interpreting Service, as part of the REMA team, supports schools, internal Surrey County Council services and external services with language interpreting and written translations.

We currently have a 12 month fixed-term vacancy for a REMA Bilingual Support Administrator to join us for 25 hours per week (spread across 5 days a week)

About the Role

Working very closely with the REMA Bilingual Support Coordinator, you will play an integral part in the day to day running of the REMA Interpreting Service and all things admin linked with this service.

You will assist with confirming bookings, liaising with professionals within Surrey’s internal services and external agencies, keeping track of information, and updating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases. As well as this, you will monitor staff mandatory training and collect any necessary information from our bank (zero hours) staff, ensuring timescales are met. You will also assist with some finance duties as well as provide regular reports on the team’s performance information and maintain a filing system.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, willing to take responsibility and use initiative, and be comfortable in setting their own priorities and meeting deadlines. You will make sure that everything is in place to guarantee that all runs smoothly for the processes and team you support.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, along with a high level of written and verbal communication skills. You should have experience of working with highly confidential information in a customer-focused environment and be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of administrative work, or be able to evidence transferable skills which would lend themselves to this role
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills 
  • Excellent IT skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel including creating PivotTable, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint)

  • Be assertive, organised and able to implement a proactive approach to your work
