About SCC and ETI
Surrey County Council (SCC) is responsible for several local public services in Surrey. The Environment, Transport and Infrastructure (ETI) directorate within SCC is responsible for a wide range of services including highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey and are delivered by the County Council or in partnership.
About the team
The team is a small unit in the wider Infrastructure Team that inspects and reports on the condition of the 1500 structures in Surrey. The team is also responsible for the routine maintenance of the structures alongside the delivery of a Capital programme of schemes to manage and improve the asset condition.

You will be responsible for inspecting and reporting on the condition of the structures to a tight programme.
What is a PDP role?
This position is a professional development programme (PDP). As such, this position spans over three grades (PS5HT to PS7). The successful candidate will be appointed on a grade and salary depending on skills, abilities, qualifications and experience.
In this role, you will benefit from training, mentoring and an accelerated pay progression upon meeting the knowledge, responsibility and skills objectives agreed until the final PS7 grade is achieved.
For this role, you will be expected to undertake a sponsored engineering programme at Level 5. The course duration is 2 - 5 years.
Upon successful completion of the professional development programme, a job progression may be offered subject to availability.
This is an exciting challenge for an individual with strong organisational and communication skills who wants to start on the ladder to become a qualified Engineer in the Civil Engineering sector.
