The starting salary for this role is £13.89 per hour, plus a 15% annual leave allowance. This is a bank contract.

Do you have a qualification or experience in language interpreting?

As a Bilingual Support Worker employed on a bank staff basis (zero contract hours) you will work for the REMA service (Race Equality & Minority Achievement) when required, to assist in improving outcomes for children and young people from minority language communities. You will assist schools in Surrey and REMA specialist teachers in identifying the pupils’ language and learning needs and in communicating between schools and parents. If required, you will provide bilingual support for specified bilingual pupils and may be required to support with interpreting and/or translation for schools or other Surrey services including social services or to conduct joint home visits and to contribute to out of school activities.

You will be a good communicator with the ability to work with children, with parents and with colleagues and other professionals. You will also have a commitment to personal and professional self-development and have basic computing and applications skills.

REMA service is an experienced team with combined expertise in English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) work. You will be part of a large team of REMA bilingual support workers (BSWs) directly line managed by Bilingual Support Coordinator. This position is on zero hours basis which means that although we do not guarantee to offer you any work on a regular basis neither are you required to accept any work offered if it is not convenient for you.
