The salary for this position is £26,080 per annum (pro rata), working 36 hours per week.

This is a fixed term contract/ secondment opportunity until 31st March 2023, based at Woking library but working locations can be flexible and discussed with your line manager.

We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Digital Welfare Support Officer to deliver a new Digital Inclusion Project for Surrey Libraries.

The project aims to empower and encourage individuals who are digitally excluded to engage in a programme of training and support that improves digital awareness, increases skills and reduces isolation. This work will help address issues of disadvantage, and digital literacy amongst Surrey residents helping communities to become more digitally active and resilient.

You will provide customers with the training, knowledge and skills to fully utilise digital technology and realise the wider benefits of becoming digitally enabled including access to relevant services and boosting health literacy.

The project will target clearly defined areas of need across the county of Surrey, whilst investing and fully engaging in the opportunities a digital future has to offer.

You will:

  • Identify new opportunities for learning through the development of community links and partnerships
  • Deliver training courses and help sessions to residents in libraries
  • Undertake outreach to key areas of surrey and deliver training from community venues
  • Gather feedback and evaluate the success of the project
  • Promote the project and courses using a range of communication tools including social media
  • Manage Eventbrite bookings and maintain a training database
  • Work closely with library staff, teams, and volunteers to develop and deliver the key outputs of the project

To be shortlisted to interview for this position, your application will demonstrate:

  • An eagerness to work with customers and deliver the right services for them
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A high level of patience and tact
  • Competence in a range of IT skills particularly in the use of learning programmes and applications, with the ability to support people to use them
  • Previous experience of delivering training and /or outreach projects would be an advantage
