Saturday Centre Assistant
The starting salary for this position is £1,485.77 per annum based on 18 Saturdays per academic year. This role is based at Guildford Adult Learning Centre, Sydenham Road, Guildford, GU1 3RX.
The working hours are Saturdays 8.45am to 3.45pm. The position is term-time only for 34 weeks per year. Currently the Centre will be open for 18 Saturdays during the 2022/23 academic year. Dates are planned in advance and there are 6 Saturdays per term. Some flexibility will be required if a date is changed or an extra date is added.
Surrey Adult Learning provide a wide range of daytime, evening and Saturday courses and learning opportunities for adults. The provision includes leisure courses like arts and crafts and languages, qualification courses such as GCSE’s in English and Maths, classes which support those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, classes aimed at parents/carers to help them support their children and improve their own skills and an outreach provision aimed at vulnerable groups in the community who would not normally engage in any form of learning.
Surrey Adult Learning has seven centres across North and South West Surrey and is looking to appoint a Saturday Centre Assistant for its Guildford Centre.
You will have a strong customer service background together with general administrative experience to ensure the effective operation of the Centre. You will also be expected to provide high quality direct customer care for the users of the Centre. You may already have some previous experience of customer service role and administration, and you should have an interest in adult learning.
You will be highly organised, willing to take responsibility and use initiative, with a flexible and confident approach to your work as the role will require lone working. You will be responsible for opening and closing the Centre on Saturdays and welcoming tutors and learners to the site. You will provide a high level of customer care assisting the users of the Centre to ensure they have an enjoyable experience, dealing with customer queries and providing information and advice. You will undertake general administrative tasks such as printing, photocopying, updating excel spreadsheets and databases, responding to emails, tracking and monitoring information. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
