This is a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.

Are you someone who loves land and property and would like to work for Surrey County Council, which has an impressive and historical background dating back to 1889 with staff numbering approximately 23,000?  Then look no further. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to work as a GIS & CAD Analyst in Land and Property Services.  Someone, with an analytical, creative and organised mindset who will be responsible for:

  • Creating, managing and maintaining the property master map using geospatial and non-spatial datasets on ArcMap, ArcGIS Online and AutoCAD platform. 
  • You will be responsible for managing, maintaining and integrating the property master data with datasets such as land and buildings point data, Land Registry polygons data, Commercial and Corporate Ownership Data (CCOD) and other demographic datasets.
  • This role is also responsible for creating project deliverables such as site plans, acquisition plans, disposal plans and lease plans in GIS & CAD format as well as producing accurate, detailed and to scale drawings.
  • Discovering patterns and trends through spatial mapping of data as well as producing reports on geographic data utilizing data visualizations including story maps and GIS dashboards.
  • Carrying out complex geo-spatial data analysis and data visualisation by creating bespoke maps, reports & dashboards.

Land and Property Services has responsibility for extensive portfolios of operational and non-operational premises, including office buildings, libraries, fire stations, rural land, care homes, and many other types of property. Our diverse service delivers everything Property; designing new buildings, managing, maintaining, and adapting existing buildings, acquiring and selling land and property, and managing tenancies, leases, and other agreements.

Surrey County Council is undergoing a period of change.  This role has a core base location of Woodhatch Place, Reigate, however, meetings will occur at other sites which you will be required to attend, so the post will need to be able to work flexibly across SCC offices as and when required and ability to travel is therefore a requirement of the role.

The role holder will need to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and liaise, communicate and build relationships with other departments, customers, partner organisations, agencies and/or contractors to engage and consult on plans or projects as appropriate and will have line management responsibility.

To be shortlisted for an interview your application and personal statement must evidence the following as a minimum requirement:

  • Qualification / certification in ArcGIS Online and ArcMap is desirable
  • Experience of using mapping and spatial analytics tools such as ArcMap and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience of using AutoCAD software
  • Experience of working in property environment within the public sector
  • Attention to detail
  • Analytical mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
