Social Worker / Senior Social Worker Substance Mis-use Team
The Mental Health Service delivers services to all Surrey residents who meet social care criteria in line with the Care Act, in relation to their mental health needs. We are leading the way in implementing new ways of working in personalisation and a recovery-focused strength-based approach. Our goal is for service-users to be able to make informed choices about the services they use, be more in control of their care, and to be active citizens within their community. To carry on delivering our services, we are seeking to appoint:
- 1 x full-time social worker (36 hours per week) within the Substance Misuse team, at the following location: Two Bridges, Guildford Street, Chertsey, Surrey, KT16 9AU
- Salary - £36,282 per annum (Surrey Grade PS9SC)
- 1 x full-time senior social worker (36 hours per week) available in the Substance Misuse Team at the following location: Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, Surrey, GU2 7LX
- Salary - £41,127 per annum (Surrey Grade PS10SC)
About the roles
This is an excellent opportunity for social workers looking to develop their experience in a busy specialist service. Ideally, we are looking for social workers who are interested in working proactively with individuals experiencing the social, psychological and physical impact of drug and/or alcohol use. You will have responsibility for carrying out Strengths-Based Adult Social Care Assessments as well as managing s.42 Safeguarding Enquiries.
We are committed to creating opportunities for service users to develop interpersonal and social skills through engagement in community activities. We work in a preventive capacity to reduce social isolation and seek to promote opportunities to enable re-integration and the development of independent living skills. We are developing expertise in MCA within the area of Substance Misuse and are supportive of Social Work staff developing their careers as BIA’s, AMHP’s or Practice Educators.
Ongoing training and supervision will be provided as per the needs of the service and Surrey CC adult services policies, including the application of the Care Act and MCA within the SMS arena. We are co-located and work closely with our health partners, and you must be able to demonstrate ability to form effective relationships with partners, stakeholders, service users and their families’.
