Senior Democratic Services Officer

We are a Residents’ Association controlled Council which operates a committee system of decision-making. You will work as part of a small friendly team in a challenging and busy environment. We are looking for someone with experience in a democratic services environment and knowledge of a committee management system will be beneficial.
The focus of this role is the administration of committees ensuring open, legal, and transparent decision-making and supporting the organising and delivery of elections. This role works at a high level with senior officers across the Council and Councillors. This role will support and deputise for the Democratic Services Manager and will deal with more complex agendas and committees.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with a great attention to detail. You need to be organised, accurate and able to work under pressure to predetermined deadlines You must have a sound understanding of local government to support the preparation of agendas and in providing advice to senior officers and Councillors.
Experience of servicing meetings, internet broadcasting or equivalent general administrative experience is essential as is working with IT systems including Microsoft Office 365 and Modern Gov. This role requires working evening as the majority of Council meetings start at 7.30pm for which TOIL is provided subject to business cover.
