  • Working Pattern: Full Time
  • Hours: 36.0 hours per week
  • Salary: £46,634 - £52,625 per annum

The salary for this role is £46,634 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This is a 6-month secondment / fixed term contract.

While the post is funded to full time hours (36 per week), we welcome enquires and applications from candidates who would like to work less than 36 hours per week or another flexible arrangement.

We are looking for an experienced, skilled and knowledgeable interim to lead and support the embedding of our new strategy for alternative provision (AP), in particular the sufficiency of appropriate places.

Our AP includes short-stay schools and pupil referral units but the post-holder will also be critical to ensuring our most vulnerable children and young people have access to education, in particular ‘in-year’, and that for most, AP is their gateway back into full-time education in a school or college.

The job involves a considerable amount of inter-agency working with senior staff in schools and colleges, targeted youth services, voluntary and community services, health services and the police.

In this role, you will be responsible for the performance management of council settings and the monitoring of provision with independent and academy schools.

To be shortlisted for interview for this role, your CV and supporting statement should clearly evidence the following:

  • A good knowledge of the area of AP, including pupil referral units and community provision, and of the needs of young people who are NEET and the legal requirements relating to pre- and post-16 provision.
  • The skill to deal with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders, including senior school, college and other organisations’ senior staff.
  • Experience of working in this or related areas, including strategy development, budget management and the management of staff.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
