The starting salary for this role is £27,991 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

We are seeking creative individuals who enjoy working with adolescents and their families to join Targeted Youth Support in Surrey Children's Service and help make a difference to our young people's lives. We currently have a full time vacancy which is based in Oxted and involves primarily working across Tandridge District Council.
Surrey County Council's Targeted Youth Support (TYS) Service is a new service that supports some of the county's most vulnerable young people to ensure they have the best chance of thriving and succeeding as adults.
The Service works with young people at risk of offending, family breakdown, homelessness, sexual exploitation and criminal exploitation. The Service provides help at the point when problems emerge, preventing the need for more specialist services further down the line. The TYS Service also holds the Youth Offending function for the County, supervising young people in the Youth Justice System in Surrey.
As a member of our team you will be working alongside social workers, other partner agencies and the voluntary sector to support children and their families in the community. Surrey Children's Service provides training to ensure competence and professional development. We will ensure that you receive a full induction and monthly supervision.
It will be great if you have had experience working with adolescents and can show us how this work has resulted in more positives outcomes. You will need to be able to engage with families/carers and young people and support colleagues in managing risk and effecting positive change. You should be able to evidence good written and verbal skills.

Each team in the TYS Service has a Team Manager overseeing a small team of six staff. This allows managers and team members to get to know the young people we work with and support each other's work. TYS teams are usually based in our quadrant offices and cover a dedicated part of the county.
The role of the Targeted Youth Support Practitioner is to manage a caseload of young people who need targeted support. You will support young people to achieve their potential and reduce the likelihood of them coming to harm using motivational interviewing and other evidence-based approaches. The role includes individual and group work, including co-delivering parenting groups.
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
- The ability to engage with young people and their families/carers
- Experience of working with adolescents and the ability to demonstrate how your work has resulted in positive outcomes
- Experience in supporting colleagues in managing risk and effecting positive change
- Good written and verbal skills.
