Do you want to be part of a team of Social Workers and Practitioners who will:
- Improve the lives of the children and young people living in Surrey
- Empower children and young people to have a voice
- Care about children and young people, their wellbeing and their future?
If so, read on!
We want children to stay with their families as much as they possibly can. Our commitment to early support and prevention - using our Family Safeguarding model - leads to lower caseloads. This allows Social Workers to do higher quality work, build close relationships with families, and give children the vital support they need.
We believe that Surrey is one place in the country where professionals can make the biggest difference to children's lives. We have taken huge strides towards delivering outstanding children's services and we are looking for committed and passionate workers who are interested in the challenges of working in a busy, professional environment.
Children are at the heart of everything we do and over the last year we have been building a new approach to help support the children of Surrey.
We are looking for qualified Senior Social Workers to join our Multi-agency Partnership (MAP) Hub, which is based within our Children’s Single Point of Access. The MAP is a multi-agency team, consisting of Social Workers, Education Advisors, Police and 0-19 Public Health Nurses all co-located in Guildford. Together you will work in partnership to deliver the right help at the right time for our children, young people and families. The MAP is responsible for researching and analysing information about a child to understand the appropriate level of support required.
In this role, you will be a key member of our Children-Single Point of Access and provide advice and guidance to referrers and partner agencies. You will explore whether threshold for services is met as defined in our Effective Family Resilience Threshold Guidance, or whether other available Preventative Services are more appropriate.
You will communicate effectively as part of a multi-agency team in matters where children may be in need or at risk of significant harm.
You will undertake enquiries within 4/8 hours in order to produce an effective analysis of needs and to evidence presenting risk factors and strengths. You will also contribute to the continued development of the service through available opportunities and take responsibility for continued professional development.
The team is supported by strong management, regular supervision and a culture of learning and development, with opportunities to access a range of training activities.
Our Social Workers have a bespoke learning programme developed by the Surrey Children’s Service Academy. You will have Continuous Professional Development and are supported to become Practice Educators with a clear Professional Development Pathway.
The Council has also invested in training staff in the Family Safeguarding model and Motivational Interviewing, as well as investing in support to develop systems thinking in practice in Surrey. Your development will be supported by regular supervision and appraisal as well as a range of coaching, e-learning and other reflection and learning opportunities.
