Are you a housing professional with experience of working at a management level within either local government or an affordable housing environment and looking for your next move? If you can answer yes, then we want to hear from you.
We have created an exciting new senior role in our housing service team to provide focussed leadership as well as to drive forward the opportunities for delivering additional housing within the borough.
Reporting to the Head of Housing and Community, your three direct reports will be the Housing Solutions Manager, Housing Options Manager and our Principal Housing Grants officer. Part of your role will be to build effective relationships with our key strategic partners including housing providers, landlords, developers and Homes England as well as working closely with our planning team in developing future policy, negotiating s106 agreements for affordable housing.
We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity and exploring new ways of working.
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, confident working alongside senior leaders and elected representatives and working in a highly pressured and sensitive environment. Strong negotiation and collaboration skills and a detailed knowledge of the legislative and policy context impacting on the role of Strategic Housing Authorities including the Homelessness Reduction Act are also essential.
Our long-term vision for the Borough tells us where we want to be and how we’re going to get there. As our Strategic Housing Manager you will have flexibility and the opportunity to drive forward good practice and deliver tangible outcomes in the strategic housing function.
You will join Epsom and Ewell Council at an exciting time when you can help shape its future as we build back better following Covid and organisational change. If you can strike the balance between developing creative solutions, long term strategies, and providing effective management of our busy housing services team, we want to hear from you.
In return you will benefit from 24 days annual leave (rising to 29 after 5 years’ service), subsidised gym membership and car parking, payment of professional fees, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team and we look forward to receiving your application.
