About Us

Surrey Children’s Services is a thriving department where the work of the Educational Psychology Service is seen as key to improving the lives of children and young people. You will be joining a positive and welcoming culture where there is a focus on early intervention and the graduated response to supporting our vulnerable learners. We have positive partnership working with our health colleagues and other partners, plus a commitment to coproduction with children, young people and parents.

Our service has a strong focus on emotional health and wellbeing.

We are keen that our Education Psychology service is sustainable and forward thinking and are therefore recruiting to a range of posts to support our vision.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote positive futures for all children and young people through the application of psychology, to understand what is happening, develop empathy and agree effective support to enable children to live, learn and thrive locally.

Our teams are well established, using developed consultation approaches and psychological interventions founded on evidence based practice in education and community settings. We utilise research and service evaluations for developing innovative practice and quality assurance.

We value and invest in our staff through a comprehensive CPD offer, together with strong supervision and support. To us it's simple; the more trained and developed our staff, the better the outcomes for the children we support. As such, we are also committed to the development of expertise in the following areas:

  • Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
  • Autism
  • Early Years
  • Children looked after and post-adoption

The EPS is regarded as key within our Inclusion and Additional Needs Service. We are very proud of feedback we receive from our stakeholders; namely children, young people, parents and schools, which has indicated high levels of impact and satisfaction with regards to children's inclusion, academic attainment, person centred assessments and social, emotional and mental well-being.

How To Apply

If you would be interested in joining us, please submit your CV and personal statement clearly evidencing how you met the minimum requirements:

  • Psychology degree (or BPS equivalent) and a professional qualification in Educational Psychology (doctorate, masters or equivalent)
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Your ability to travel around the country to meet the requirements of the role
  • A commitment to personal development, co-production and child focused outcomes

This role is open to remote working and you will be provided with a laptop and iPhone to support agile working. We care about how you work rather than where you work; the children and young people rather than the postcode. In support of our children and young people and our greener futures strategies, we’d welcome a conversation about what remote working may look like for you.
