The starting salary for this role is £16,520 per annum for a 24 hour working week.
This post is 24 hours per week (two-week rota) including alternate Saturdays.
Please note that, depending on the library being worked at, start and finish times may vary between 9am and 7pm, and that the rota is also subject to revision to meet the needs of the library service.
The rota for this position includes working at Knaphill and Woking libraries. You will also occasionally work at Addlestone and West Byfleet libraries.
Branch Managers are responsible for day-to-day operations in one or more libraries and lead a team of staff and volunteers to create a dynamic and welcoming library service for the whole of their local community. This is a role where you will have many opportunities to have a direct impact on your community, whether providing books and information, organising events and cultural activities, or helping build local partnerships to encourage learning and improve local health and wellbeing.
You will contribute to achieving our strategy for providing a first-class modern library service for the people of Surrey. You will have a proven record of working effectively under pressure, ideally in a busy multi-tasking environment, and have a flexible attitude to work patterns. You will also be able to demonstrate how you can work effectively, both independently and as part of a management team, supporting each other to supervise and develop staff in your group, ensuring an overall standard of excellent customer care.
You will be committed to reading, information delivery, virtual services and professional development for yourself and others. You will be hard-working, enthusiastic, and quick to learn, and able to demonstrate a confident understanding of management which will enable you to tackle a wide variety of tasks and situations across a range of libraries.
