An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our busy Commercial Environmental Health Team.
The candidate must be a fully qualified Environmental Health Practitioner, (EHORB registered) and ideally have a minimum of two years relevant experience of working in food enforcement. Applicants working towards EHORB registration or hold a Higher Certificate in Food Control could also be considered. Additional relevant qualifications would be an advantage.
Working in a small team your role will include carrying out a full range of food safety inspections, investigation of food complaints, investigations into infectious diseases, the investigation of statutory nuisance from commercial premises and health and safety regulation. You will therefore need to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload.
The Council does not have an out of hours noise service, however, you may be required to undertake proactive monitoring out of hours where necessary. For this work, time off in lieu is given.
You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use. This post holder will have access to government databases and hence the successful candidate would have to pass the BPSS screening checks. More information about this check can be found in the extra information pack.
In addition to the casual car user allowance, we can offer excellent conditions of service with a benefits package that includes pension scheme, payment of professional fees and flexible working hours.
