 Surrey Heath Borough Council is a major investor and property owner within the borough.

The Council’s property holdings enable it to control and develop important facilities and services for the benefit of its residents and businesses. The Council’s investments also provide an important source of income as a means to support its activities, duties and services.

The Council has extensive property ownerships across the borough, but with a strong concentration in its principal town, Camberley. This includes the main retail centre, The Square.

A property asset manager is required to support the Council’s asset management activities across the borough, but with primary focus on its retail holdings in the town centre.

In conjunction with the Council’s appointed managing agents, the purpose of the role is to:

  • Provide effective management within the Council’s property, asset and estates function to secure value for money and outcomes that help deliver the Council’s corporate objectives, high performance and cost effective service.
  • To manage such other areas that may be allocated from time to time.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the Council’s positive and high performing staff culture.

  • To oversee investment performance
  • To provide regular reporting on performance
  • To establish and maintain appropriate governance channels with the Council’s managing agent.
  • Continuously optimise the portfolio to improve efficiency, quality, service and value.

 The role will sit within an established Investment and Development team. The team’s responsibilities include investment management, regeneration schemes and related property services within the Council. Although the role will be primarily focused on retail holdings, the successful candidate will be expected to take on miscellaneous asset management duties within the broader portfolio and to make a highly positive contribution to the team and its broader duties.

A generous benefits package includes; a minimum of 25 days’ annual leave, Local Government Pension Scheme; free parking;
