Spelthorne Borough Council is looking for an individual who is passionate about the natural environment, highly motivated and able to undertake a variety of work.
Working with the Council’s Group Head Commissioning and Transformation and the Climate Change Officer you will develop projects to address climate change and adaptation, and flood risk within the Borough. With 12 miles of the Thames bordering the Borough flood risk is a key issue for the Council. The Council is responding to climate change through the development of an ambitious Strategy and associated action plan to move the Council to net zero. The successful candidate will work with teams throughout the Council to ensure it is resilient to climate change, while working with partners, businesses and communities to take forward carbon reduction, offsetting and adaptation initiatives together with managing flood risk.
Candidates will require a sound understanding of sustainability and flood risk including relevant legislation. They should also have experience of project implementation, especially of technical projects, and have excellent interpersonal skills, including presenting technical information.
This post is a permanent post for 36 hours a week and will sit within the Council’s project team.
