Casual Park Attendant
Runnymede Borough Council have a busy Parks team which manages the Borough’s parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments.
We currently have a vacancy for a Park Attendant to be based at Victory Park in Adddestone, working on a shift basis covering weekends and some weekday evenings.
This may be the right job for you if you would enjoy working outside all day and carrying out some manual tasks. The successful candidate needs to be able work in all weathers and be physically fit and able to work on their feet all day. Some aspects of the job are particularly physically demanding.
To be successful you should be enthusiastic, able to work alone, have the self-motivation and flexibility to carry out the work required to keep the park clean and tidy when the weekday staff are off duty. There are a range of tasks involved including preparing sports facilities for matches, litter picking and bin emptying, cleaning changing rooms and public toilets and the candidate needs to be able to carry out all aspects of the job. The successful candidate also needs to have good communication skills and be able to liaise with the public in a polite and friendly manner. Some testing of facilities and record keeping is involved. Training will be provided in all aspects of the job.
This is a casual appointment and hours of work will vary throughout the year, so you will need to be flexible in this regard. A typical Sunday shift at Victory Park in the winter will be 6.5 hours extending to 11 hours during the height of summer. The post holder may be asked to cover similar duties in other parks on various weekday evenings and weekends in which case the number of hours worked may increase.
