As Services to Schools Manager for Surrey County Council, you will be at the forefront of a multimillion pound operation, leading the team that provides the infrastructure and support for the council’s portfolio of services and training which are traded via a digital platform to education customers across Surrey and beyond.
In this fast-paced and highly varied role you will lead a newly expanded Services for Schools Team (which you will have the opportunity to help shape) to transform the council’s approach to traded services for the education sector.
Initially, you will work in partnership with an experienced commercial project manager, to create a ‘one stop shop’ for our education customers to access the full range of council services, training and resources. You will lead the delivery of team expertise to council colleagues and professional services to standardise and streamline the wide range of traded offers, to deliver a consistent experience for our customers that promotes the councils vision and values to provide quality and best value to support and promote the delivery of excellence in learning within a dynamic and diverse education landscape.
You will utilise your highly effective interpersonal skills to build and maintain resilient and effective customer relationships with integrity, whilst being accountable for customer satisfaction with both our education customers and county council stakeholders.
You must have a professional approach to everything you do and will be confident and capable of managing challenging situations with customers and stakeholders. You will have the ability of being direct but diplomatic, remaining calm under pressure, and able to work as part of a team with good negotiating and influencing skills. You must be resilient and able to manage pressurized situations and multiple areas of work at different stages of development and delivery.

The Transformation Plan for Services for Schools is ambitious therefore we require candidates with a proven track record that demonstrates their ability to meet the demands of this important role.
To be considered for this role please outline and evidence in your personal statement your talents, skills and experience with regards to the following areas:
- Dynamic and highly motivated approach to work with the ability to engage with and inspire others.
- Solution focussed leadership skills with a talent for influencing and negotiating.
- Strong communication and time management skills with evidence of utilising these to successfully manage large scale, complex project(s) involving multiple stakeholders across different teams, services and/or organisations.
- A proven track record of success and achievement in a customer-facing role- focused on ensuring customer contacts are up to date with the latest information about new service offers and an eye on improving customer satisfaction.
- Ability to probe for and support new commercial opportunities.
- Commercial awareness with evidence of thinking creatively to deliver innovative suggestions for continuous improvement in commercial service delivery and to share and apply commercial best practice.
- Experience of working within the education sector would be beneficial.
