Elmbridge’s Asset Management and Property Services team (AMPS) is recruiting and we

Elmbridge; we need you!
The job
You will be working in the Asset Management and Property Services (AMPS) team which is
made up of 16 people in 3 teams: Building Surveying, Facilities Management and Estates.
Our Estates team currently has 3 surveyors and the role sits within this team. We work on a
collaborative basis and so you will have exposure to all parts of the property portfolio, with
colleagues in AMPS and across the organisation. Most importantly, you will also be dealing
with customers and partners.
The portfolio is split into two broad areas, the Investment Portfolio and the Operational
Portfolio. Both of which have assets totalling approximately £100M each.
The operational assets enable us to deliver services and activities administered by the
council on behalf of our residents. The investment assets (retail, offices, industrial,
residential), are strategic assets held by the council on behalf of the public. These are assets
for either long term investment and revenue income, regeneration/strategic economic
benefit, or both.
Your role will be focussed on all aspects of asset management within the portfolios. You will
be set individual tasks set around utilising the property in the Councils ownership. Seeking to
protect and enhance the financial, legal and social responsibilities of the Council in line with
good practice.
To give you an understanding of the Councils property ownership and what the team does,
our 5-year Asset Management Plan (2019-2024) is available for review. The plan forms the
outline to what your role will involve and how we manage our property.
About you
Because of the technical nature of the role, you will possess a surveying degree or have a
significant amount of experience in the commercial property industry. You will be a member
of the RICS to Associate level or above and working your way towards full membership if
you have not already achieved it.
We are ready to support your development and skills in the evolution of your career. All you
need to do is show us that you can undertake property related tasks professionally and have
a desire to progress. Some basic outlines of the areas which you will have experience of;
· property law and landlord and tenant practice
· valuation practice, property markets and trends
· and an understanding of RICS best practice in areas associated with asset
management.
You will be equally comfortable working independently as in a team, as well as being,
· committed to quality service
· happy to ‘muck in’ where appropriate
· and appreciative of the value of clear and timely communications.
