We’re currently seeking a Senior Building Control Surveyor with a strong knowledge of building regulations and working with Local Authorities to join our team. You’ll be working across the combined authorities of Wokingham (WBC), Windsor & Maidenhead (RBWM) and the district of West Berkshire Council (WBDC), providing their residents with a quality Building Control service while ensuring a safe, healthy and sustainable built environment.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a senior member of the Shared Service Building Control teams, you’ll be a resident expert in carrying out Building Control functions, such as checking Building Control applications, site inspections and carrying out enforcement procedures.
You’ll carry out enforcement procedures alongside Legal Services in order to achieve compliance, as well as liaising with internal and external contacts to ensure information exchange, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
In addition, you’ll use your knowledge of Building Control to assist in the promotion of and commercial aims of the service, all while developing the knowledge and expertise to take part in the out of hours rota.
You’ll need to have a Degree in a relevant field or alternatively, a BTEC, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying to succeed in this role. Additionally, you’ll need to be able to interpret and assess complex plans and check for compliance with Building Regulations and recommend amendments.
Beyond your Building Control expertise, you should also be able to work effectively in a team, influence people and negotiate amendments. Strong organisational skills and time management skills will also be vital.
You should have an excellent knowledge of Building regulations, as well as strong experience in Building Control and dealing with the public in an efficient, prompt, friendly and helpful manner.
