This is an important and varied part time role providing support to our Cemeteries Manager in providing a high-quality service to bereaved families and funeral directors.

The small cemeteries team handles around 150 interments each year and your key responsibilities would be to support this by dealing with essential cemeteries administration including arranging interments, dealing with memorial applications and deeds of grant, inputting historical records and gathering accurate information from funeral directors, the public and others. You will also be expected to provide cover in the absence of the Cemeteries Manager by liaising with funeral directors, the bereaved and cemeteries staff to plan the weekly burial programme. In addition, you will assist with purchasing supplies, equipment and services.

You will therefore need an ability to deal sensitively and effectively with the public in emotionally difficult circumstances and keep clear and accurate records. You will also need to be organised and versatile enough to deliver on a wide range of tasks. The role will involve some travel around the Borough to visit sites and attend meetings and you will need to provide your own car for this.
