Planning Policy Officer

Godalming, South West Surrey

Salary range £26,029 to £32,894 per annum (+ pay award pending)

  • Do you have a degree, preferably in town and country planning, and have a good knowledge and understanding of the planning system?
  • Do you want to be part of an experienced and enthusiastic team?
  • Are you looking for a role where you will help to deliver the Local Plan and the Community infrastructure Levy in order to support growth?

The Borough of Waverley is a beautiful place, consistently rated as one of the best places in the Country to live and to work. The Borough lies within the Surrey Hills but is within easy reach of London and the south coast.

The Council is committed to investing in its Planning and Economic Development Service. Following an internal promotion of the former post holder to Senior Planner level, we are now seeking to fill this important post.

If you want to start your career in Planning or are keen to take the next steps, then this post will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to work for a forward thinking, friendly and supportive Planning Authority.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our busy, but friendly Planning Policy Team and help prepare and deliver the new Waverley Local Plan and the Community Infrastructure Levy. There may also be an opportunity to support communities that are preparing their Neighbourhood Plans and you will be exposed to a range of planning policy work.

You will be keen to take on a new challenge, be meticulous in maintaining accurate records and be able to manage your workload to deliver tasks to a high standard and on time. We are looking for a genuine team player with the determination to succeed.  In return, we can offer a competitive salary, generous leave, flexible-working and a supportive and nurturing work environment in which to develop your skills.

This post is a full time role. However, all applications will be considered.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Matthew Ellis Team Leader (Local Plans and Planning Policy) on 01483 523297 or Graham Parrott, Planning Policy Manager on 01483 523472.

Strictly no agencies please.
