About the Role
Are you looking for a new career opportunity in a fast developing, forward thinking, ambitious, and commercially focussed organisation?
You would be part of an energised, friendly and supportive team which operates paperless working and handles around 2,500 planning and related applications received each year. You can expect to carry out various technical and administrative support duties as well as handle a caseload of householder and minor planning and related applications, which involves the assessment of the proposal and making recommendations on the acceptability of them. You will also provide pre-application and general advice to customers both face to face, by email and telephone.
Please note, A 2.3% pay award has been agreed from 1 April 2020
About the Person
The role would be ideally suited to someone with good time management and customer service skills with a passion for and knowledge of the planning and development system together with an ability to interpret plans. Given the busy nature of the department the ideal candidate will be good at working to deadlines, on their own and as part of a team although full training and support would be given. A driving license is essential although car ownership is not necessary as use of the Council’s pool cars will be offered.
In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits.
We provide you with competitive annual leave, and contribute 15% towards the LGPS pension scheme. You will also have access to a range of discounts including local and high street stores, and salary sacrifice schemes including a cycle lease scheme, and ‘Better’ leisure centre membership.
For an informal discussion about the role, please call Andrew Benson, Head of Planning on 01737 276175.
We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer, supporting the guaranteed interview scheme for disabled and ex-armed forces candidates, who meet the essential criteria for the role.
Closing date: 17 February 2020
