This is a fixed term (maternity cover) position until 31 December 2020.
Please note that Surrey County Council's headquarters, where this role is currently based, will be relocating back into Surrey in 2020 to support our Community Vision 2030.
About the role
Surrey County Council is seeking to recruit a Paralegal to work in the Highways and Planning Team in Legal Services to cover maternity leave from March 2020 to December 2020 with the possibility of extension.
The person appointed to this post will have conduct of their own caseload of highways and planning matters. They will also support the four team lawyers with their work covering preparation of litigation documents, securing of Land Registry searches ,assistance with planning and enforcement inquiries and organisation of in house training for clients.
To be shortlisted for interview, applicants' personal statements must demonstrate experience of or aptitude for:
- Courteous interaction with clients;
- Undertaking negotiation of legal agreements;
- Providing solutions-focused and risk-aware advice;
- Working effectively and flexibly as a team;
- Managing competing priorities to strict deadlines; and
The successful applicant will receive training and support. The team is small and friendly and very appreciative of its paralegal support.
