Runnymede Borough Council is a stock retained local authority. The Housing and Neighbourhood Services Team are responsible for the management of the Council’s housing stock and having just completed a transformation we are looking for new people to join our team.
We are dealing with an increasing number of complex cases with specific tenants requiring intensive management to help them sustain their tenancies in order to prevent or avert a range of tenancy breaches from anti-social behaviour to hoarding and rent arrears. A key objective of this post will be to prevent tenancy failure through pre-tenancy work and intensive support during a tenancy when risks are identified.
The postholder will also focus heavily on working with tenants to mitigate the impact of welfare reform, which has resulted in a growing number of our tenants experiencing financial difficulties. There is therefore an increasing need to help tenants with income maximisation, budgeting and both money and debt advice. You will also need to work with tenants to promote employment and training as well as building ‘work ready’ skills.
The successful candidate will work closely with established officers within a busy team delivering a high quality in-depth, proactive and responsive service. The customer will be at the heart of your work to provide efficient and effective tenancy sustainment and support that is tailored to the individual needs of tenants. This is an interesting and diverse position, ideally suited for someone with a financial advice qualification but this is not essential.
