About the role

An opportunity has arisen to join the Housing Options Service in our Adult Services Directorate as a Tier One officer. 

This role is required to deliver all statutory functions of the Housing Options Service providing a high quality process for applications to the housing register, advice and assistance to private sector occupiers and homeless households with particular emphasis on the prevention of homelessness and access to private sector housing options. 

The role involves being part of a supportive team who act as the first point of contact for homeless households. The successful candidate will provide casework support to those households in order for their homelessness to be resolved.

This role will also be responsible for assessing housing registration applications, providing homeless households with suitable prevention options and assessing homelessness applications as well as working alongside colleagues in a networked manner.

About you

A knowledge of relevant legislation and an understanding of the issues affecting homeless households is desirable to help you in the role as well as an understanding of the relationships to other services. You should have a basic IT knowledge and experience of setting action plans, monitoring those plans and interviewing people. 

You will be based at Kingston offices but there is a requirement for some home visits or work from other locations from time to time.

Appointment Type: 6 months Fixed Term
