Runnymede Borough Council is looking to recruit a positive and enthusiastic individual to join a small team of committed staff at our Social Centre in New Haw.

We operate three social centres across the borough. Open each week day, our centres have a lively, friendly atmosphere and offer our older residents the opportunity to get involved in a range of activities, have a freshly prepared hot lunch and meet new people.

As part of this role you will be expected to manage all aspects of running our Woodham Social Centre. This will include leading and managing centre staff, voluntary workers as well as casuals and agency staff. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of both visitors and staff, whilst being accountable for the security and safekeeping of the building. In addition, you will be accountable for all administrative tasks, so a good level of record keeping, and IT skills would be required.

The ability to lead and motivate staff as well as experience in performance management is essential. You will also need to liaise with outside agencies, health professionals and family members so excellent communication skills are necessary as well as a solid understanding of the needs and issues facing older people.

You will provide assistance to visitors accessing the centres facilities to enable personal care if required, therefore it is essential you have well-developed people skills, patience and the ability to empathise.

A range of activities, support services and events will need to be provided at the centre for services users to participate in, therefore a creative approach to engaging with older people and to providing a vibrant, interactive service is required.

As you will be working with vulnerable adults an enhanced DBS check is required for this role.

For an informal discussion about this role, please telephone Margaret Hayes on 01932 355707 or Hayley Andrews 01932 425853.
