About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Planning Officer to join the Development Management Team. With a number of exciting new development proposals including town centre regeneration schemes likely to come through to planning over the next few years, as well as a new Development Management Plan to implement, it is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious candidate to take the next step in their planning career.
The role will involve managing a personal caseload of major planning applications, reporting these to the Planning Committee and Development Forums as well as defending these at appeal, when required. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the line-management and supervision of up to three Senior Planning Officers, and the review and sign-off of delegated decisions. For the right candidate swift progression can be expected with opportunity to be the lead officer at Committee.
About the Person
With significant Development Management experience and eligible for membership of the RTPI, you will offer professional advice as well as assistance and support to the team and deputise for the Development Manager or Head of Planning as required.
The team operates in a supportive and energised environment and has been fully paperless for several years. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and positive with excellent communication, IT and organisational skills as well as a strong team-ethic and can-do attitude.
