Tandridge District Council is looking for an experienced local government finance specialist to join the Council’s high profile finance team as a Lead Finance Specialist and Deputy Section 151 Officer.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer (S151) your role will be to manage the Finance Team and provide strategic financial advice and guidance to Members, Directors and key business partners within the Council. There will also be close contact with budget managers as well as developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and partners outside of the Council.
The Council has a strong record of sound financial stewardship and recently received an unqualified opinion on its Statement of Accounts and value for money conclusion. The Council also set a 2019/20 Budget which was agreed unanimously by Members. The Finance Team is looking to enhance its skill-base and further improve its service and this postholder will be a key player in this role.
To be considered for the role you must be a fully qualified accountant with significant management and leadership experience some of which most would have been gained in the local government sector – exceptionally a candidate who can demonstrate ‘qualification by experience’ will be considered. Experience of working in corporate finance is considered desirable for this role. You will be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder and staff management skills, strong communication and presentation skills you will also have an outstanding track record in delivering a customer focused service. You will have a strong track record of finance experience in areas such as capital, revenue, budgeting, closing of accounts and treasury management.
