We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional to join our busy team.

As part of a committed team, you will be responsible for promoting for the Council’s ‘Let’s Rent’ private sector access scheme to allow the Council to end its homeless duties to households that are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You will work closely with Letting Agents, private sector landlords and tenants to secure long term tenancies ensuring that properties meet Let’s Rent standards prior to letting, attend viewings, carry out regular tenancy inspections, mediate and assess bond claims.

You will have knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits and an ability to interpret and communicate complex information as well as being adaptable, sympathetic and organised. You will have experience of working in a busy environment with competing priorities and tight timescales.  A full driving licence is required.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

As this job involves contact with vulnerable groups including children, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack. Woking Borough Council takes a robust approach to thoroughly checking anyone who has applied to work with vulnerable groups including children.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post.  An assessment may be required. If you have any queries or would like to discuss this further, please contact the Human Resources team.

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Jacqui Dixon (Housing Strategy & Enabling Team Leader) on 01483 743 616.
