About us  
Mole Valley lies at the heart of Surrey. The towns of Dorking and Leatherhead are the District’s main centres.

Our purpose built open-plan offices have recently been refurbished. We are located opposite the Sports Centre which offers a swimming pool, sports hall, gym, aerobics studio and café and Dorking Halls, which provides a range of facilities including a café, cinema, theatre and concerts.

About the role and apprenticeship
This is an ideal opportunity if you want to develop your administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills to learn all about how HR works in a busy, dynamic, friendly and supportive team.

You will have a varied work load supporting general HR, payroll and recruitment administration. You will help maintain a variety of systems including our HR software, e-learning platform and social media for posting vacancies.

You will also have the opportunity to host new starters in the organisation supporting them through our onboarding and induction processes.

The job will not only give you a CIPD foundation qualification where you will spend 20% of the working week studying but it will also give you lots of variety and it will test and build your analytical and interpersonal skills in equal measure – both vital for a successful career in HR.

As an Apprentice you will be employed on a 12 month fixed term period, giving plenty of time to complete the agreed qualification and gain significant work experience to start you off on your HR career. At the end of this period if there isn’t a role available within the department or our Council, we will support and network with our neighbouring Councils to try and find you a permanent role.

About the team
We are a team of 8 collaborative and energetic HR and OD professionals, from a variety of different backgrounds. Working in partnership with the leadership and management teams, the HR and OD team provide a comprehensive, value added HR and OD service across the organisation.

About you

  • You will have an A’level or BTEC qualification and GCSE grade A to C / 4 to 9 Maths and English
  • You will be able to demonstrate your administration skills and an appreciation and understanding of good customer engagement
  • You will understand the skills required to support project work, including organisational, time management and communication skills
  • You will be IT literate- able to use information, communication and office technology
  • You will be motivated and excited to do an Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Certificate in Human Resource Practice CHRP (CIPD)
  • You will be keen to take every opportunity you have to learn all about HR and the way it works in practice
