About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join Surrey County Council.

We are looking for an experienced project manager with a greater focus on Place to join a programme being developed to work collaboratively with residents and partners to reshape public service delivery in Surrey.

Public services in Surrey are facing sustained funding reductions and an ever increasing demand for services. The scale and nature of residents’ needs is also changing, becoming both greater and more complex.

Addressing these challenges requires a step change in collaboration with partners and a much greater focus on thinking about changes to whole systems (involving many organisations) involved in delivering services. These changes are likely to be significant and visible for residents so it is essential that residents and service users are fully involved in service design.

Work is at an early stage and we are boosting our programme and project management capacity. Working on a matrix basis with officers across Surrey County Council and a wide range of partners, the Senior Project Manager will play a critical role in shaping and mobilising the work as part of a small team. The role is available now.

Successful candidates will have:-

  • Driving change on a significant scale
  • Complex partnership working
  • Managing and joining up multiple work streams
  • Understanding how local government/the public sector works

  • Project management
  • Influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Financial management

Applications are welcome from candidates with relevant project management experience.

Please submit your CV and personal statement outlining your suitability to the role.
