Planning Policy and Support Manager

Salary £51,289 - £56,828

The Borough of Surrey Heath is diverse and in addition to urban locations and Camberley Town Centre contains countryside and rural settlements, conservation areas, Green Belt land and sites of nature conservation such as the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area. You will need to be able to weigh up the competing demands of different interests, securing sustainable development which meets social and economic needs, but which also protects and enhances our environment.

This makes Surrey Heath a challenging but interesting place to work. The Council is in the early stages of producing a new Local Plan to take forward the vision for the Borough up to 2032.

Other important areas of work include regeneration of Camberley Town Centre, review Community Infrastructure Levy, Special Protection Area mitigation, and a number of emerging Neighbourhood Plans. In addition to planning policy work you will also manage the joint infrastructure work with Surrey County Council and this will include a key role in the submission of LEP bids. This post also manages the administrative team that supports the Development Management function.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate strong commitment, be a polished communicator, be able to lead and manage effectively, able to represent the Council at all levels of government and with key partner organisations and be politically aware.

Applicants will need to be Chartered Town Planners.

For an informal discussion please contact Jenny Rickard 01276 707510 or Jane Ireland 01276 707213. For further information and details on how to apply please visit
