There is an exciting opportunity for 3 FTE Organisation Development (OD) Consultants to join our friendly and forward thinking Organisational development team at time of change and increasing demand for expert OD capabilities. Two of the roles are permanent and one is for a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for 9 to 12 months.

As an Organisational Development Consultant your main role will be to support the organisation to continuously improve its performance and build a culture where people are supported to be the best they can be.

You will be expected to have a variety of experience, expertise and skills as an OD consultant. You will be expected to lead on a number of key OD project such as:

  • Staff survey and improving employee engagement
  • Leadership development at all levels
  • Transformation and culture change initiatives
  • Developing and embedding behaviour frameworks
  • Evaluation of the impact of OD interventions and programmes
  • The development of best practice in people management and development skills across the council.

You will be provide expert advice across the services (9,000 employees across various sites and functions) supporting the delivery of business critical organisational development interventions. Aspects of the role involves working in collaboration with colleagues within the wider HR, Learning and Development teams to upskill the organisation in line with the OD and workforce planning requirements.

To be successful in this role you must be have sound knowledge and experience of leadership development, be an excellent facilitator and have the ability to engage confidently with a range of key stakeholders to address OD matters. You will already have gained experience in areas such as, performance management, coaching, talent management, data analysis and interpretation to support your understanding of organisational culture and development needs. You need to be able to work well in a team, be results focused, take the initiative to get work done and have well developed project management skills. The ability to embrace new digital learning technology and come up with innovative solutions to address organisational issues is an important requirement of this position. Your strong stakeholder management skills will enable you to influence and work collaborately with a range of partners and stakeholder to get the best outcomes for the organisation.

To be shortlisted for interview, your CV and personal statement will clearly evidence:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent knowledge of current OD practices, principles and approaches
  • Experience of designing and facilitating events or learning and development activities
  • Experience of successfully manage multiple projects to achieve outcomes.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and customers to build good relationships, providing advice and expertise.Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and in an engaging way with a range of different audiences.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to provide solutions to problems and evaluating their impact
  • An understanding and acceptance of the principals underlying equal opportunities and diversity and their application in OD work.
