Elections Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Elections Team, ensuring the delivery of high quality and professional electoral services for the Council. The successful post-holder will organise and conduct all local and parliamentary elections, other polls or referenda in accordance with legislation and under the overall direction of the Returning Officer. He/she will also manage the preparation of the Register of Electors.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines for prolonged periods in advance of elections, have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and the ability to manage staff well. He/she will need to have a strong understanding of the legal procedures and regulations relating to elections, good IT skills and attention to detail. Due to the nature of the role, at peak periods particularly leading up to elections, working additional hours may be required.
