About the Role

This post is set within Surrey’s Admissions and Transport Team, which has responsibility for delivering the school admissions service for community and voluntary controlled schools; overseeing and coordinating the normal round admissions process for all schools; assessing home to school transport to mainstream schools for Surrey pupils; arranging placement of challenging and vulnerable children under the Fair Access Protocol; tracking and monitoring applications up to the date children start school; and identifying and referring children who might be missing education.

Under the line management of the Senior Admissions and Transport Officer you will be responsible for processing applications relating to the admission of pupils to Reception and the transfer of pupils to Junior and Secondary schools, for processing 'in year' applications for school admission throughout the year, and for assessing home to school transport entitlement.

You will have regular written and verbal communication with parents, Headteachers and other stakeholders, advising on individual casework and providing advice and information on the authority’s admission and transport policies.

In order to be shortlisted to interview for this position your application should clearly evidence the following:

  • Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ability to work under pressure to meet statutory deadlines and targets
  • Experience of providing excellent levels of customer service
  • Proficiency in ICT packages, including Word and Excel, and experience of maintaining a database
  • Familiarity with the principles of safeguarding and data protection
