The Transport for Surrey service leads the Council’s thinking on transport policies and strategies. We now have an opportunity for a forward-thinking transport professional to become part of our Local Transport Plan Programme Co-ordination team.
Working in a small team, managing specified transport policy development projects to achieve the Council’s goals, you will assist as required, in developing the Local Transport Plan and Progress Reports, and will need a broad understanding of the national policy framework and emerging issues and challenges.
Effective team working is an essential element of the job, as you will be working closely with colleagues within the LTP team and with those responsible for topic strategies and performance management. To achieve this, you will need to organise meetings and, from time-to-time, lead working groups to achieve specific objectives with minimal supervision.
You should preferably have relevant experience in transport policy, planning and/or transportation engineering and be able to demonstrate that you are self-motivated and fully conversant with local transport planning issues. You should be educated to degree level, and preferably be professionally qualified, including membership of a suitable planning, engineering or transport planning organisation, or demonstrate equivalent experience.
For an informal discussion, please contact Lyndon Mendes on 020 8541 9393 or Martin Robarts on 0208 541 9377.
Interviews dates: 24 and 25 November 2008.
Surrey County Council particularly welcomes applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
