Location:Based at the Civic Centre in Addlestone, Surrey 

This position, which is initially for 6 months, is to provide support to the Housing Advice Team who deal with all aspects of housing issues in the community including prevention of homelessness and advice to people who may be homeless or threatened with homelessness.

You will be dealing mainly with telephone, e mail and written enquiries, helping applicants to complete forms and logging advice cases onto a database, although you will be expected to deal with people who come into the Council for assistance and the duties may vary on a daily basis depending on how busy the service is.

You need to be educated to at least A level or equivalent standard and will, ideally, be a graduate. In addition you will need to have had some office and data inputting experience. An understanding of the sensitive nature of the work is vital and the need for confidentiality. A calm and helpful manner, excellent organisational skills and a good knowledge of Microsoft software is essential and if you have some knowledge of housing issues and are looking to develop a career in this area, this will be an advantage.
