This team provides ongoing support and services to Looked After Children and children who have plans of protection. Many of these cases are complex, and involve working in partnership with staff in other agencies to work towards the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

Our Specialist Children’s Services has consistently achieved an ‘outstanding’ grade at recent inspections. Our emphasis is on building strong, meaningful relationships with children, young people, their families and carers, and using these to create tightly focussed Care Plans. We see the statutory framework and its associated paperwork as a means to an end, rather than the end in themselves. Innovative practice is actively encouraged, and everyone in the team plays an influential part in making decisions about the children and young people who they are responsible for, and for involving children and young people in this process.

To help you achieve these results we provide a support and supervision network and a manageable case load. Specific areas of strength, in ‘good staff morale’ and ‘good training and development opportunities’ were recognised in a recent, unannounced OfSTED inspection.
