ON BEHALF OF KINGSTON’S
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
Our vision for the future is all about reducing drug and alcohol related harm to individuals, their families and the wider community. You’ll be at the heart of this partnership approach, working directly with our partners and stakeholders in a changing environment to develop strategies, policies and demonstrate success.
We are looking for highly motivated and proactive people who are committed to improving the quality of life for Kingston residents and who have the drive and compassion to see this task through. With an ability to respond to new developments from national, regional and local perspectives, you will be required to think creatively in order to find solutions to local issues. With new ideas, enthusiasm and the ability to translate your knowledge into realistic plans and actions we will ensure there are fewer people in Kingston who develop problematic drug and/or alcohol use and that there is provision of effective treatment and support services for those who do.
This is an exceptional opportunity to drive your career forward and see the results of your work taking shape around you.
This is a rare opportunity to be involved in a new and innovative action research project and to organise and oversee the implementation of an intervention programme for hazardous drinkers in Kingston. This will include promotion of the project, development of resource materials, use of a screening tool, brief interventions and a web-based intervention programme, follow-up with participants, and liaison with research colleagues as part of a research team. This programme of work will be undertaken in partnership with the primary care trust, research colleagues based at University College London and other sites, the police, probation, council, service users, providers and the voluntary sector.
If you have experience of working in alcohol harm reduction, or other behaviour change / addiction; a demonstrable interest in research, having written reports or peer reviewed papers; and the ability to deliver presentations at conferences, you could be the person we are looking for. You will need strong project management experience, excellent ICT skills, including electronic literature search and database skills and a willingness and ability to learn new computer skills, such as Dreamweaver or other web-design programmes. You will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communications skills, demonstrating tact, discretion and confidentiality and the ability to develop effective and harmonious working relationships with staff at all levels in the wide range of agencies represented on the Partnership.
