The Customer Service and Business Support team plays a key role in assisting the Management team in regular and specific reviews of systems, processes, procedures and staffing structures. It ensures that all human and material resources are managed effectively and efficiently and it is committed to opening up the accessibility of our services to all of our customers, particularly through e-service strategies.
We are looking for a calm and efficient individual to provide comprehensive administration and financial support to the Customer Service and Business Support Manager and assist in the delivery of high quality customer services. You’ll also support the Area Management team in the planning, development and achievement of corporate and area objectives across a variety of key functions. Working in the busy highways department, you’ll lead a small Customer Service and Business Support team who deal with diverse enquiries from local residents and internal customers regarding the public highway. You’ll take ownership of the complaints procedure and customer service function, handle freedom of information enquiries, and ensure that your team are fully supported and encouraged to provide a high standard of service.
You’ll have an office-based, customer service and management background (preferably within local government/private sector), with a working knowledge of relevant business practices and human resources. You’ll have solid team building skills, a flair for leadership and the ability to liaise with a variety of services, together with sound planning, communications and IT capabilities. You’ll also have a firm but fair approach and you’ll know when to take responsibility to ensure best practice.
