At Coveham we provide 24 hours of personalised support for 10 Adults with Learning Disabilities. We are in Cobham and have easy access to the A3 and M25. Public Transport however is more challenging for us. We are committed to supporting residents in a person centred way that helps them retain their independence. We also take an active part in our local community.
We have an opportunity for an established and experienced member of staff who is currently working in social care and wishes to progress their career at Surrey County Council. This role will enable you to develop your leadership and organisational skills in a social care environment. With supervisory responsibilities you will be key in providing advice and guidance to others ensuring that they have personal development plans to follow in line with the County Framework.
Coveham has a friendly and dedicate team committed to providing a high quality 24 hour residential service that requires a flexible attitude around working weekends, some unsocial hours and some sleep in duties.
You will already be experienced in dealing with the needs of the vulnerable within our society and have worked within a residential home setting. You will have a working knowledge of National Minimum Standards (Care Standards Act 2000) and ideally a Diploma in Health and Social Care level 3 (NVQ level 3) or a willingness to undertake this qualification.
With excellent attention to detail and communication skills you will be competent at keeping clear records and care plans, be comfortable with writing reports and following health and safety procedures. As key worker to identified residents you will understand the values that support a person centred approach to help them retain their independence. Actively involved in creating opportunities for social and leisure activities you will introduce service users to the wider community and ensure you maintain contact with a wide range of outside professionals, families and other people important to our residents.
In return we offer you full support from the Team to complete our induction programme along with all mandatory courses and any further training for your own development. We also conduct regular staff supervision meetings and annual appraisals.
For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit please contact Carole Gardner, Team Manager or Theresa Harber Assistant Team Manager on 01932 794600.
Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
