Plan E Programme Officer, Epsom

£26,828 – £31,556 (fte)

Equivalent of £14.29 to £16.81 per hour

Variable hours(depending on the requirements of the examination process)

We are looking for an experienced Programme Officer who can help us deliver our latest development plan document.

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council is a progressive authority that lies within easy reach of London in the leafy heart of Surrey. Small we may be but our ambitions couldn’t be greater. We are deeply committed to continuous improvement and great customer service across all our activities. Our Planning Department has spent the last two years leading the development of an exciting town centre area action plan for Epsom; Plan E. It will form part of our wider local development framework, which already includes an adopted Core Strategy .

We believe that Plan E will be a new breed of planning policy document that delivers town centre regeneration through a subtle mix of land use planning and spatial management. For the right person, this is a superb opportunity to broaden your experience and enhance your skills. You will manage the day to day arrangements of the examination process, including the pre-examination meeting and the subsequent examination hearings. You will have experience of having successfully managed local plan inquiries or development plan document examinations. You will be capable of managing the process efficiently and will have experience of using IT systems, in particular the Limehouse consultation portal.

The Programme Officer will work with the Planning Inspector and alongside, although independently, of the Borough Council’s Planning Policy Team. The post will be based at the Borough Council’s offices, at the Town Hall in Epsom. The post is temporary until approximately 31st December 2010.
