Temporary for up to one year
With over 650 ha of parks and open spaces, including 60 play areas, 5 skate parks and a range of games pitches and courts, our parks and open spaces enjoy a very high profile in the Borough, and are rated very highly by our public.

We are looking for someone special to help cover the role of Parks and Landscape Officer on a temporary basis for up to one year from April 2010, whilst the current post-holder is on maternity leave. Your post is part of a small, friendly team consisting of two Parks and Landscape Officers, a Parks Manager and a Parks and Landscape Assistant. Your role will be to ensure that our parks and open spaces continue to be well maintained and enjoyed by all our users. This will involve day to day contact with our contractors (Glendale), regular contact with the public and the opportunity to develop new play areas, including holding public consultations.

The Parks and Landscape Team is an important frontline provider of several key Corporate Priorities, including Leisure, Value for Money and Environment.

You will have an appropriate qualification in amenity horticulture, or similar, with at least three years appropriate experience, plus a clean driving licence. A working knowledge of Confirm Environmental Contract Management System and MapInfo is desirable, as is experience of working in local government.

For an informal discussion, please contact Rob Anderton, Head of Environmental Services on 01483 523411.
