We are currently seeking to recruit the new post of Insurance and Risk Officer which is part of the Risk and Resources Team providing a front line information service and first point of contact for insurance and risk enquiries.
You will be responsible for ensuring the Council has appropriate arrangements in place for insurance as well as having responsibility for the control and administration of all claims.
You will provide support to all departments when dealing with claimants and the Council’s insurers and assist in renegotiating the renewal of insurance cover with assistance from the Council’s broker. You will also provide performance management data on a regular basis.
You will also assist in embedding risk management through continuous development to reduce potential loss.
Candidates must possess:
•Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to work on own initiative.
•Experience of working in the insurance field ideally in a local authority
•Good knowledge of the scope of a local authority or public sector organisation
•An understanding or experience in handling claims
•Ability to prioritise, multi-task and organise work.
•Proven ability to use a variety of IT systems (Microsoft Office essential)
