Improvement and Development Consultant

Salary:£40,101 to £45,243 (pay award pending) 

Hours:37 hours per week. The post will involve some work outside normal office hours 

Working pattern:Full Time, Permanent position 

Location:Winchester – Travel to the whole of the South East and London and on a limited basis, across the English regions

As part of the Improvement and Governance Team you have a unique opportunity to be a consultant working with our Councils at a strategic level. This will involve identifying, developing and delivering training and development consultancy, supporting partnership working and building networks, to facilitate local government improvement and transformation across the South East.

Your role will be to lead on innovative and creative activities that support whole council improvement, working with national and regional partners and stakeholders. You will research and implement best practice in organisational development, including Councillor development, and take forward new initiatives and themes such as the Local Government White Paper “Strong and Prosperous Communities”

Able to work on your own initiative, and highly self-motivated, you will have the opportunity to develop your own skills. We will encourage you to apply your creativity, ideas and innovation to develop your areas of expertise.

You will need to be comfortable working in a competitive consultancy and fee-earning environment and have experience in organisational development and managing change. You will have excellent influencing skills and be familiar with working in a politically sensitive environment.
