Located in the Resources Division, this is an attractive, high profile post offering an opportunity to contribute to the work of Kingston’s Housing Advice Service.
Temporary Contract initially to 31st March 2009 with 3 monthly reviews thereafter.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated individual to join this high performing and well established team, providing specialist housing advice and casework intervention to prevent homelessness in the private sector.
This role requires excellent communication and negotiation skills, a good understanding of private sector housing law and housing options together with a detailed knowledge of issues affecting landlords and tenants in the private sector, including security of tenure, harassment and illegal eviction, disrepair, money advice, housing and welfare benefits.
Whilst experience gained within a local authority or voluntary sector advice agency would be an advantage, we are ideally seeking someone who can demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully prevent homelessness, maintain high casework standards, work with private sector landlords and agents to maximise access for clients to private sector housing options within a competitive local housing market and make a significant contribution to the service.
