Environmental Health Manager
Reigate, Surrey
Starting salary £36,090 – £45,060 per annum with possible progression to £50,985
Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is set in the leafy county of Surrey. We are traversed by the North Downs escarpment, a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We deliver services to one of the most attractive areas of England – and we’re dedicated to enhancing everything that we do.
With major changes in regulatory reform we must respond to the new public health and wellbeing agenda in partnership with other organisations, and ensure that our Environmental Health Department is agile enough to adapt and succeed over the next decade.
As a highly motivated and experienced manager, you will use your change and culture management skills to help shape and focus the provision of existing and new services that are really important to our communities and customers, in the most cost effective way possible.
You will play a leading role in investing in our people and streamlining the systems they use and securing appropriate technology to ensure that they are well supported.
You will empower them to be more self-sufficient, to make more decisions at a local level, and to use their professional and technical expertise in a flexible way, where it most matters, without being tied to the traditional limitations of the office environment or outdated notions of service delivery.
Whilst direct experience of managing in an Environmental Health team is not essential, you will be able to demonstrate significant experience of successfully managing and leading change within similarly complex environments, most likely within an organisation where regulation and enforcement are key components of the workload.
The key dimensions of the role are:
- To drive the business to give an improved and improving customer experience.
- To lead in service transformation, innovation and cultural change.
- To exploit opportunities for new ways of working and partnerships.
- To ensure that the function responds to Council, community and customer needs.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious and forward-thinking manager to make their mark. If you believe that could be you, we’d love to hear from you.
